The Dutch cooperation partner TACTUS has taken part in all euro net projects to date. The insights that have been gained are currently mostly utilised in the following areas:
Parents as Peers
The guidelines for the parent peer training have been utilised in the European pilot project 'Parents as Peers' since 2002. It is now planned to augment the already well developed programme with further elements. The network of parent peer leaders created in 2002 has become larger in the following years. 15 parents were trained as peer leaders in 2002. Nine of them are still active in the network. There have been follow-up meetings of the parents in 2003, 2004 and 2005. At the end of 2004, another nine parents took part in peer training sessions. There are now 15 mothers and four fathers in the parent peer network. New peer leaders were recruited by the TACTUS 'Prevention and Counselling' Unit.
During the 'Parents as Peers' meetings, the following topics were focussed on among others:
- Empowerment,
- Consolidating the role as peer leader,
- Social development in the field of alcohol and drugs.
- In May 2005 the topic was: Youth and alcohol; knowledge about alcohol, alcohol consumption in figures and trends.
TACTUS is planning the following future activities in the parent-peers network:
1. Organisation of two follow-up meetings per year,
2. Expansion of the peer leader group.
The main aim of the 'Parents as Peers' project is to encourage parents to take part in informal, prejudice-free discussions on the topics of alcohol and drugs and to contribute their own ideas, visions and knowledge about the topics.
Youths as Peers
Various methods are used that were transferred from euro peers and euro youth. These particularly concern art-based empowerment and various other concepts and methods that have been introduced by other euro net members.
