The networking of the prevention actors at the European level supports the regional activities. Although the circumstances prevailing in any one place are very much influenced by specific local or regional conditions, it is often possible that best practices used elsewhere can be integrated into the work there. It already became clear during the euro peers project that, in the field of addition prevention, there are considerable differences in the various European regions in terms of not just the understanding of addiction prevention but also organisational aspects and project management. These differences must already be taken into consideration during the planning of projects to ensure that the measures can be conducted both smoothly and efficiently.

Particularly because addiction prevention aims to change not just the behaviour of people but also the prevailing conditions, it is expedient to tailor the prevention measures to the specific regional circumstances. If the addiction prevention discovers 'illness-inducing' conditions in a region, an improvement of these circumstances can have a preventive effect on addiction.
