„Say No!“ is an addiction prevention programme, developed for intellectual disordered adolescents at special education schools.
German Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (DBDD) gave an account of „Say No!“ in its annual report 2014.
Intellectual disordered young people at the age of 13 – 18 years are a group at risk concerning drug consumption. They want to be part of a group and defend less against offers to consume or misuse drugs. They fear to get excluded, if they do not participate.
This aspect was seized in “Say No”. Beside information on alcohol, nicotine and cannabis it offers different options, to find stress relaxation, well-being and sociability.
“Say No” was developed by a group of experts around the LWL-Coordination Office for drug-related Issues. It was proved in two special schools in Germany. The next step is to develop a curriculum to train interested teachers and prevention experts.
