Profil of the Organisation
The Norwegian Institute of Public Health acts as a national competence institution for governmental authorities, the health service, the judiciary, prosecuting authorities, politicians, the media and the general public on issues related to forensic medicine, physical and mental health, prevention of communicable diseases and prevention of harmful environmental influences. The domain for Forensic Sciences has important tasks in the fields of forensic genetics, forensic pathology, clinical forensic medicine and forensic toxicology. In Euronet the department for drug abuse research is represented. The department does projects in epidemiology which focuses on health consequences of drug and alcohol use through various projects. The department has a special focus on substance abuse and road accidents, intoxication and somatic illness, injuries and overdoses. We work with hospitals, police, road traffic authoritys and other organizations. The department also have international projects, with a particular focus on substance abuse, road traffic accidents and other health outcomes in Russia and low- and middle-income countries..

Experiences in the field of prevention on European level
The department have been a partner in several prevention projects on European level, currently in Joint action on reducin alcohol related harm.
